By Football Italian staff The new boss of Inter Milan and Juventus midfielder Andrea Agnelli has been appointed as Inter Milan’s first manager since the club’s 2011-12 relegation.
The Nerazzurri, who lost to Juventus in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final, confirmed Agnellis appointment on Twitter.
The former Lazio player and Inter manager had been on the market since the start of the summer and reportedly turned down the chance to become coach of Inter’s current Serie A rivals.
He is currently on a short break after spending a week in Austria, where he will stay until the end of the month.
The 46-year-old had also been linked with the role of coach at Sampdoria, but the club opted not to take the offer up.
Inter also have a number of players who have departed the club since they were relegated, including Francesco Totti, Andrea Barzagli, Andrea Pirlo and Daniele De Rossi.
