Roma v Sassuolo: Sassuola v Roma: 1-0 win for the Giallorossi

Roma are looking to extend their unbeaten run to five games as they face Sassuoli at Stadio San Paolo.

The Nerazzurri have not conceded a goal in the opening 10 minutes of their Serie A campaign.

Andrea Diamanti scored twice, including the winner in the 66th minute.

They have won four of their past five games.

“It’s always important for us that we start the game well,” said Sassuolis boss Paolo Di Canio.

“We know we need a result and we want to be happy and feel we’ve done everything.

We’re at the top of the table and I think we can still get to the top, but I also think we need to be very happy about the result.”

ROGERS CONFIRMED: Sassucolis defender Giuseppe Garbiolella is the only player who has not been ruled out for the trip to Rome as he returns to full training.

The 26-year-old had been ruled down with a hamstring injury, but has returned to full fitness.

It remains to be seen whether he will feature in Saturday’s Champions League clash with Roma.

DIAIMANTI’S GOAL: Diamantis header from a corner in the 65th minute was the first goal scored for the Nerazzuoli in the league this season.

They had only scored once in their previous six league games.

Diamantes, who had only just returned from a calf problem, scored from close range on his debut.

Sassuolei: Alessandro Mancini (8), Alessandro De Rossi, Francesco Totti, Gianluigi Buffon, Gianluca Zambrotta, Marco Gagliardini, Andrea Dias, Fabio Mancino, Federico Gagneri, Giancarlo Gabbiadini (Roma, 83′), Andrea Marini, Stefano Gabbana, Matteo Boni, Federica Carlini (Sassuolo, 63′), Giovanni Di Motta (Rosenborg, 84′), Alessandro Sartori (Sampdoria, 73′), Gianlucio Lippi (Rome, 84′) The hosts had to settle for a draw against a Sassuolli side who have won seven of their last nine league games, but were without key players for the first time this season after the international break.

“This is an important game for us,” said Mancina.

“After five or six games, it’s difficult to get out of our comfort zone and we have to be ready to play.

I’m really pleased that we are playing this game.

It’s important for the team to start the season in the right place, so I’m sure we will do well.”

FITTO DIAEMANI (SAS): Andrea Mancani has scored three goals in four games this season, but his brace was his first in seven games against Sassuoles.

He has netted three times in his last two outings in Serie A. Dias scored his second goal of the season at the end of the first half.

Sassucolei have scored seven goals in their last 10 league games but have conceded four in their past three.

Dives in for Sassuolas goal-bound strike in the 81st minute.
